Between the two different ways to make spreadsheets that we learned about, I personally prefer Numbers. Google Spreads was kind of confusing and the infinite number of columns and rows was annoying. Also, trying to figure out how to make a formula was more difficult than using Numbers. With Numbers it's easier to do that and to add and delete few or many columns as a person may please.
Google hangouts is a website made by Google for quick texting and video calling with more than one person at once.
Google Doodles are designs people who work for Google come up with often to change the Google logo fitting for certain dates or special events. They also hold contests every year for students to submit their own Google Doodles and have a chance to win and have theirs become the Google logo. Temporarily, of course, for it is always changing. Posted below are a couple of my favorites.
Today, we learned a little more about Google and the things a person can do using Google. For example, you can use Google Shopping to search for items you are hoping to buy from multiple sites. Another thing you can do is add alerts on certain topics of interest or things you wanna keep tabs on and be updated with. One last really useful tool is Google Translate which allows you to insert certain words or phrases and then translate them into any language you want.
We learned how or make QR codes. They're really useful since you can scan them and see what they say immediately. To me they are similar to hyperlinks on websites or computers.
A few days ago, in our previous Computer Essentials class, we learned a little of Google Maps. It's a site supported by Google that allows you to type in any address or place in the world. It then shows pictures for that place and a few different ways in which to get there. It will give you different routes based on whether you plan to walk, bike, drive, or take a plane there, and also depending on how quickly you wish to arrive there. You may also view certain areas of that place from a first person sort of view by using the street view option. Sometimes aerial views or tourist pictures are also available to view.
Today we learned more about Google Drive. We learned how to create a document, but even more than that, how to share it with others. We can fix the settings so that they can edit it, comment on it, or just view it. We can also change smaller things such as the font, color settings, etc,. Shapes and drawings can also be added along with images.
This past weekend I ended up helping my aunt. She had asked me to paint a room for her. I started on Saturday and ended on Sunday. She had given me specific details as to how she wanted it done; white paint for the ceiling and blue paint for the walls. This room was to be done for my cousin Keagan. I was also surprised as to how well I did considering it was the first room I painted on my own, with some appreciated help from my younger cousins.
